NFL Flag Football offered to students in SLO

The San Luis Obispo County YMCA in association with SLO Parks and Recreation, is offering NFL Flag Football beginning September 14th and running through November 13th.  Registration is now underway for this program, which is the NFL’s official non-contact Flag Football League.  Open to both boys and girls, there are four age divisions: 5-6, 7-8, 9-11, and 12-14. Teams will be formed by school and divisions may vary, depending on the number of participants registered.


Participants will learn formation, pass patterns, and various types of defense. Practice begins on September 8th at various schools and games will be played Tuesdays and Thursdays at Damon-Garcia and Stockton Field.  The cost is $75 before August 8th per participant, plus a YMCA membership fee (if not already paid for the year), after August 8th the fee will be $85. The participant cost includes uniform, equipment, and a participation award. A portion of the fees will support the Boomer Esiason Foundation for Cystic Fibrosis. The annual YMCA program membership fee is $20 for an individual, or $35 for a family membership.

There are a number of convenient ways to register.  Registration forms, available on the YMCA’s website, can be dropped off, mailed, or faxed to the San Luis Obispo County YMCA Fitness Facility.
